You Built the Life Now Learn to Be Present In It

Chase is a licensed therapist who still practices clinical care and is expanding into high-performance coaching. The work blends therapy depth with a coaching edge: less endless processing, more standards, accountability, and forward motion for men who carry a lot and still want to lead well.

Therapy depth with a coaching edge for high-performing men who carry a lot and still want to lead well.

Adversity Is Already Here. The Question Is What You Do With It.

High-performing men rarely fail from a lack of effort. They stall when the next fire hits work, marriage, parenting, health, or identity at the same time the old response stops working.

Career pressure

The machine still runs. You do not.

Layoffs, promotions, ownership pressure, and constant urgency leave you wired after the room gets quiet. Performance stays high while recovery disappears.

Marriage and partnership

Home becomes another battlefield.

Detachment, fighting, quiet resentment, or living like roommates. You can close deals and still not know how to repair the person closest to you.

Fatherhood

You are there, but not present.

Your kids feel the half-attention. Coaching, bedtime, and weekends get interrupted by the leftover stress from the day you never put down.

Health and identity

Your body and pride start sending bills.

Sleep drops. Patience thins. Shame gets louder. The man who built everything starts wondering why success did not buy steadiness.

Family of origin

Old patterns keep writing new chapters.

Inheritance tension, parental expectations, sibling comparison, and the roles you learned young still decide how you fight, withdraw, or perform.

Asking for help

Competence became a cage.

You know how to carry everyone else. Asking for support still feels like failure, so the same adversity keeps compounding in silence.

From the upcoming book

The Undefeated Man Starts With Adversity.

Chase is giving the first chapter of his upcoming book to men ready to stop performing the part and start rebuilding the operating system underneath it.

Introduction

Why would someone teaching men how to be better guys start a story like this? I am Mr. Undefeated right? I am a therapist with more than 20 years experience. I am the one that's worked in the trenches, the toughest of places, where I honed my skills as a clinician and leader. I should be the sparkling example for all the guys reading this.

It's important that this hits you in these early pages; I am the defeated man. I have almost killed myself. I have been fired from my job. I have fucked up my family. What is important is the crucible moments I've experienced and the man those moments have made.

I learned this thing we call adversity isn't bad. It's an absolutely needed phenomena in life that shows you what you need and gives you opportunity to grow. The Undefeated Man builds himself towards being Antifragile: he does not merely withstand stress, shock, or volatility, but grows, improves, and thrives as a result of them.

Licensed therapist. Coach. Founder.

I've Lived the Rebuild.

Chase Butala, LCPC, LPC, is a psychotherapist with almost 20 years helping individuals, couples, and families navigate mental health challenges, relationships, life transitions, and personal growth. In 2020 he founded Undefeated Healthcare, a mental health practice with locations in Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania that pairs evidence-based care with trauma-focused work aimed at growth, healing, and resilient relationships.

His career has run through some of the most complex behavioral health environments: correctional facilities, residential treatment centers, and psychiatric hospitals. That work shaped a belief that integration means accepting the broader experiences that make a whole person, then building strategies that empower a man’s relationship to himself. He holds a master’s in vocational rehabilitation counseling from West Virginia University and a bachelor’s in sociology from Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania.

Chase is still a practicing licensed therapist, and he has expanded into more personal coaching for high-performing men who need more than insight alone. The blend is intentional: clinical depth where it matters, coaching standards where momentum means more. He has also lived divorce, parenting, relationship loss, health change, and the cost of staying competent while life asks for a different man.
